It’s no secret that we’ve been rather let down with Nokia of late. Our E75 suffered quality problems and the N97 was a disappointment from both hardware and software perspectives. In fact, in a sad indictment of the state of Nokia’s product portfolio, we recently had to declare that the mid-range N86 camera phone was the best device Nokia made. Our favourite Finnish phonemakers just didn’t seem to have a flagship device worthy of the name. Well, it looks like that’s about to change.
Ditching the rather long in the tooth S60 operating system and adopting instead the brand new, Linux based Maemo OS, the N900 Internet Tablet is probably the most feature-rich and capable phone on the planet. Not only does it have the technical ability but it seems to come with all the right eye candy too. We’ll know more once the N900 starts hitting shelves next month but it looks like it may be time to say “Welcome back, Nokia.” We missed you.
